As farmers, we have to transition from being “Livestock Managers” to being “Land Managers”. There is such a profound shift in thinking when we consider that statement. Instead of relying on the simplicity of veterinary products and advice from a veterinarian, landowners now need to factor in the complexity of the soil AND the animals as one living system.
One of the best books that I have read this year is Call of the Reed Warbler , by Charles Massey of Australia. Grass farming in Australia requires being as tough as nails to withstand the droughts and other challenges. You have to be a real survivor there, and the Regenerative Agriculture Grassland Farmers of Australia are showing the way!
